I’m speaking only to you, my dearest sisters in Christ! As some of the song lyrics go, isn’t it beautiful and marvelous the way that our holy God looks at us through our faith in Jesus, as shared in Isaiah 61:10a, “I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of His righteousness . . . .”
In Ephesians 1:4 He has also promised, “For God chose (place your name here) in Christ before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight.” I would ask you, what does that do to your heart? You should be leaping with joy and sheer gratitude! But if you just casually read through these words of God, and don't actually stop and bathe and bask in them, you will not experience the thrill of realizing them . . . personally! It should bring a humble-like thrill to know that this is how our holy God views you. That is exactly what Jesus Christ did for you and me in dying in our place and God placing our past, present, and future sins on Him.
With that shared, my grave concern are for those sisters in Christ who are living with a devastating and debilitating low self-esteem/self-worth. The Lord Jesus wants you to know that this is an out-and-out attack and lie of Satan himself! As you know so well, it is thwarting your spiritual growth, which is certainly giving great pleasure to the evil one. I know you would agree with me that living with this lie is a daily torment. But I would implore you, this very moment to . . . STOP and . . . THINK . . . how actually beautiful and marvelous it is of God, who actually sees you as holy, perfect, blameless and complete in Christ!
And now, sisters, despite our exalted position in God’s sight, our practice often falls far too short of His holy standard. Therefore, our moment-by-moment challenge is to increasingly match our practice to our position, realizing that sinless perfection won’t come until we are fully glorified in Heaven (Romans 8:23).
