Knitting Knights
We've been collaborating with Sumner Souls, a group of knitters at Sumner at Concordia in Copley to make many scarves and ear warmers. This lively bunch of ladies loves knitting with a purpose!
Here's the update of where our 2018 handmade projects and prayers just went:
Here's the update of where our 2018 handmade projects and prayers just went:
- 377 scarves to Akron Public Schools for Project Rise, a program for homeless children in Akron schools. Beanie Babies were attached to all of those with a colorful ribbon
- 197 matching knitted hats and ear warmers--attached to the largest scarves for APS' Project Rise.
- 53 children's scarves to Love Our Community, a non-profit housing and homeless shelter.
- 62 prayer shawls (Including 11 sent to families of victims in the shooting at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.)
- 9 prayer blankets (6 to Serenity Hospice and 3 to individuals)
- 5 baby blankets to the ESL class at The Chapel
- 13 baby blankets to Pregnancy Solutions
- 1 baby blanket given elsewhere
- 1 "Joey" blanket
